Americas Rankings – June 25 2017

Test match rugby this weekend resulted in changes in the Americas Rankings. This weekend featured three test matches – Argentina vs Georgia, Canada vs USA and Romania vs Brazil.

Argentina’s 45-29 win over Georgia saw Los Pumas gaining maximum rankings points. It sees the 9th ranked Argentina gaining a 0.20 point gain at the expense of Georgia. This sees Argentina rising to 79.50 points in the rankings. In the Americas Argentina moves clear at the top.

The second placed USA faced Canada away Saturday. The 28-28 draw saw Canada gaining and the USA losing points. Canada has gained 0.39 points but remains 23rd in the world and 4th in the Americas rankings. The USA’s drop of points sees the Eagles falling closer to Uruguay but retaining 2nd in the Americas and 17th in the world rankings.

Brazil’s historic test against Romania saw Os Tupis coming out second best. The Eastern Europeans 56-5 victory sees no change in the rankings for either competitor. This is based on Romania entering significantly higher than Brazil. As such Romania remains 16th in the world and Brazil 29th.

Test match rugby resumes next Saturday. In San Diego, California the USA will have home advantage against Canada. The winner will qualify for Rugby World Cup 2019. Also in action will be the USA South Panthers and Guyana. They meet in the Rugby Americas North Final.
