Draw confirmed for Paris 7s

The draw for the 2017 Paris 7s has been confirmed and for the first time ever, two Americas teams will be the top seeds. Stade Jean Bouin will host the two-day tournament that kicks off on May 13, the penultimate round of the 2016-17 HSBC Sevens Series .

After the historic Cup Final in Singapore that saw Canada defeat the USA to claim their first ever tournament win, it’s the North Americans who enter at the top of pools A and B. Joining Cup winners Canada in Pool A will be Scotland, Japan, and overall Series leaders South Africa.

Two Americas teams will be up against it in the toughest group of the tournament. Runners-up USA welcome Argentina in Pool B, which also contains Wales and the mighty New Zealand.

Pool C is headed up by Bronze winners England, with Kenya, host nation France, and invitational side Spain taking other spots. This marks a return for Spain who achieved core status for the 2017-18 HSBC Sevens Series by winnig the qualifying tournament in Hong Kong.

Olympic champions Fiji, who were ousted by the USA in Singapore, will play off against Australia, Samoa, and Russia in Pool D. Russia look to have secured their spot on the circuit next season unless Japan can make up a nine-point gap in the final two tournaments.
