Lavanini Back to Jaguares Training

Tomás Lavanini is back training with Los Jaguares. On the eve of the team’s departure to South Africa the second-rower returned to train for the first time in 2017.

Return This Month
The involvement of Lavanini is a tremendous boost for Los Jaguares and also Los Pumas. The 24-year-old suffered a serious knee injury playing against the Springboks in August. The injury saw him requiring surgery and he is now into the final stages of rehabilitation.

Lavanini will not play in the upcoming three-match tour of South Africa. Should his recovery stay on track then he may be declared fit for Los Jaguares’ next home fixture. The April 24th match will be against the Sharks.

In the absence of Lavanini Guido Petti and Matías Alemanno have been the regular combination used for Los Jaguares and Los Pumas. They are joined by teenager Marcos Kremer in the 27-man roster to face the Sharks, Lions and Bulls over the coming weeks.

Also Out
Additional players not touring are being carefully monitored. Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro also returned to training on Monday. He is also expected to be fit to play against the Sharks on home soil later this month.

Not touring are Juan Martín Hernández, Matías Moroni and Juan Manuel Leguizamón. The trio also all missed training in Buenos Aires yesterday.

Partially involved in training were Martín Landajo and Javier Ortega Desio. Landajo has been out since breaking his leg in training in January while Ortega Desio is also yet to play Super Rugby this year. Landajo is expected back in May, in time for the final rounds of Super Rugby before the June Internationals.

New Option for 13
The non-availability of Moroni combined with the form of Ramiro Moyano resulted in an experiment in training on Monday. The tall Emiliano Boffelli is being tested at outside center. Sources have indicate to Americas Rugby News that a start in South Africa in the 13 shirt is entirely plausible.
