Mario Lamé Named New Uruguay u20’s Head Coach

Mario Lamé has been named as the new Uruguay u20’s Head Coach with immediate effect. The national u20 side will have home advantage in the Junior World Rugby Trophy 2017 and are looking to the wise head of Lamé to have a solid campaign.

Lamé is vastly experienced. He played for Uruguay at Rugby World Cup 1999, doing so in all three pool matches. He retired in 2001 with 52 test caps to his name.

As Los Teritos Head Coach Lamé is to be assisted by Luis Pedro Achard, a coach who has plenty of experience as Los Teros 7’s Head Coach. Together they are to look to see Uruguay record encouraging results at Montevideo’s Estadio Charrúa in agosto.

Also in charge of Uruguay’s u18 players is a former Tero. Fernando Paullier has the role of preparing the leading players towards the transition required to be able to make the step up to u20’s. The u19 side will play in the South American Junior Championship at the end of the year, a tournament which doubles as qualification for the 2018 Junior World Championship.

Gino Festorazzi and Alejo Durán are to continue as the coaches at u17 / u18 level. They will be in charge of the youth going into the High Performance Center at the Estadio Charrúa.
