Uruguayan Player Joins Jaguares Super Rugby

History has been made as an Uruguayan player has officially joins Los Jaguares Super Rugby. Nicolás Freitas of Montevideo club, Carrasco Polo has signed a one year contract to play for the Argentine franchise.

Aged 23, Freitas played for Uruguay in November. He started all three matches at center for Los Teros. He  also did so against both Romania and Spain in the 2016 Nations Cup. Earlier in 2016 he played wing against Chile and Argentina.

It is the wing position which has seen him landing a contract with Los Jaguares. In fact the Uruguayan back is making his debut today. Freitas is the starting left winger for Los Jaguares in their warm-up match against Uruguay in Buenos Aires.

Freitas has not only signed a one year deal with Los Jaguares but he has also signed with the URU. He has thereby not only become Uruguay’s first Super Rugby player but also the first contracted by Uruguay’s union itself.
