Argentine Super Rugby Hooker to Join Agen

An Argentine Super Rugby hooker is to join Agen according to reports in the French press. Midi Olympique broke the story with Facundo Bosch reportedly set to be unveiled as the club’s latest signing for the 2017-18 season. He will replace Portugal international Mike Tadjer who is moving to Brive.

The club is currently recruiting players. Another Argentine forward, Leandro Cedaro, recently signed for Agen from La Rochelle. Cedaro is capped by Italy and can thereby not play for his home country.

For both Los Pumas and Los Jaguares Bosch is third choice. Agustín Creevy is the captain of both sides with Julián Montoya being his deputy. Bosch received game time in the 2016 Super Rugby campaign when Creevy was unavailable.

Bosch made his first appearance at international level in 2016. His appearances against Chile and Uruguay were not for the senior side. He was joined by Felipe Arregui and Joaquín Paz in the starting lineup. Both now play their rugby in Europe.

Similar to these players Bosch had limited opportunities in 2016 and 2017 looms as being similar. Bosch will again be involved in the Super Rugby campaign as the third choice hooker. According to the French press upon completing the season he will then depart for Agen.

The loss of Bosch will require urgent addressing from the UAR. Santiago Iglesias Valdez, Gaspar Baldunciel, Axel Zapata, and Tomás Baravalle may now be used by Daniel Hourcade to fill the void. Veteran fullback Lucas González Amorosino is also set to depart to play in Wales.

After 16 rounds the French second division club sits in second position of the Pro D2. The club is on track to qualify for the playoffs and can press for direct promotion back into the Top 14.
