Jamaica Forfeit RWC Qualifier to Barbados

Saturday afternoon’s Rugby World Cup 2019 qualifying match between Jamaica and Barbados did not go ahead. The specific reasons for this are yet to be clarified though the Barbados Rugby Football Union (BRFU) has confirmed on social media that Jamaica forfeited the match, thereby giving Barbados the win.

The qualifier was one of three matches played on Saturday in the Caribbean. The other fixtures saw wins for the Cayman Islands and Guyana with the former defeating Bermuda at home and the later winning away against Trinidad & Tobago.

The results confirm the final standings of the South Zone of Caribbean qualification with Guyana being the winner. Guyana will now need to wait to see the result of the Cayman Islands vs Mexico to learn who is to be their opponent in the Rugby Americas North Championship play-off.
