Chile Change Ten for Argentina XV

Chile Head Coach Sebastián Gajardo has changes ten players for Saturday’s home international against the Argentina XV. Los Cóndores will play host to their eastern neighbors in a non-capped fixture which is the third and final match in the 2016 Sudamérica Rugby Cup.

Los Cóndores are returning to La Pintana, the venue used to host matches during the Americas Rugby Championship and the South American A Championship.

In their previous outing, Los Cóndores were defeated 39-14 by Uruguay. Combined with Uruguay’s home defeat by the Argentina XV last weekend the Chileans are destined to finish in third and bottom spot of the Sudamérica Rugby Cup.

Despite the match being in June, Gajardo does not have his full compliment of players available. Missing are players based in France and New Zealand. Of them Pablo Huete is to start for Bayonne in this weekend’s Pro D2 final. Also featuring will be Ramón Ayarza from the bench.

In place of Ayarza Chile will be fielding Hernán Amigo at loosehead prop. Amigo comes in to replace the injured Claudio Zamorano who started against Uruguay. Manuel Gurruchaga and Luis Sepúlveda have been retained at hooker and tighthead prop respectively. In the second row Raimundo Piwonka partners Mario Mayol as Francisco Hurtado misses out.

Benjamín Soto will captain the side from no8 with new flankers in Gustavo Carrasco and Inti Ubeda, the latter making his test debut.  On the bench there are two uncapped forwards in Augusto Sarmiento and Eduardo Orpis.

It is all change in the halves with Juan Pablo Perrota and Rodrigo Fernández replacing Beltrán Vergara and Francisco González Moller at scrumhalf and flyhalf respectively. José Ignacio Larenas moves to the wing with Daniel Jamett to start in the midfield beside Matías Nordenflycht.
