Chile Make Four Changes for Uruguay

Four changes have been made by Chile for Saturday’s test match against Uruguay in Montevideo. The third and final round fixture of the South American A Championship will see the two undefeated sides squaring-off at the Estadio Charrúa.

Benjamín Soto is to be in charge of an unaltered back row with Javier Richard and Cristóbal Niedemann proving to be a vastly underrated trio. They are to play in a pack featuring two changes from the side which competed to a 20-10 draw against Brazil last Saturday in São Paulo.

Second row Mario Mayol has been called up, taking a place on the bench with Francisco Hurtado earning a start in place of absent Ignacio Álvarez. Reserve hooker Rodrigo Moya is also out, replaced by Tomás Dussaillant.

In the backs Francisco González Moller will pull the strings at flyhalf. He comes in for Rodrigo Fernández who started against Brazil. National sevens captain Felipe Brangier comes in on the wing, with José Ignacio Larenas moving to the midfield and Matías Contreras on the other wing. Pedro Vershae moves to fullback, and Pablo Casas drops to the bench.

The game is to not only be a South American A Championship match but it is to double as a Sudamérica Rugby Cup fixture too. With Chile and Uruguay finishing as the top two in the 2015 South American A Championship they earned the right to play, together with the Argentina XV, in the 2015 Sudamérica Rugby Cup. Chile missed out on playing last year with Paraguay having qualified instead.
