Uruguay Scrum half Extends Stay in France

Uruguayan Scrum half Agustín Ormaechea has signed an extended contract to remain in France, his club confirmed today. His new deal will see him remaining at Mont de Marsan for an additional season.

The 24 year old from Montevideo has been playing for Mont de Marsan since 2013. He was released to be involved in Uruguay’s successful Rugby World Cup qualifying campaign and at the World Cup in England and Wales he played against both host nations in addition to Australia and Fiji. He scored a try against the Pacific Islanders in Milton Keynes.

Mont de Marsan has won promotion twice to the Top 14 over the past decade but, on both occasions, in lacking stability was relegated back to the Pro d2 the following season.

Currently sitting in 9th position after 18 rounds the club is nine points outside of the relegation zone. Rising into the top five is not out of the question though it would require improvement to match and out perform the likes of Lyon, Bayonne, Beziers, Colomiers, Aurillac, Perpignan and others.

Ormaechea  is joined by Argentine Carlos Muzzio in having signed a new contract with the club. The club is seeking to ensure the club can remain competitive and push for a strong campaign next season, potentially having the means to win promotion.
