30th edition of Sevens Viña del Mar Coming up in Chile

The 30th edition of the Sevens Viña del Mar is coming up in Chile. This coming weekend the 2016 edition of Chile’s biggest annual international event, the Casillero del Diablo Seven Viña will take place.

Headlining the tournament will be the current world number two at Rugby Sevens, South Africa in addition to the 3rd, 4th and 8th ranked USA, Argentina and Canada. All four are core teams on the World Sevens circuit while the remaining participants in Viña del Mar will be seeking to earn qualification to the 2016 Hong Kong Sevens.

Fighting for the spot will be the host nation of Chile in addition to Brazil, Peru and Uruguay. Los Condores 7s enter as the favorites after having won the Plate Final this past weekend at the American Sevens in Mar del Plata, defeating the USA Falcons to claim third spot overall.
