Peru Reach Final After Defeating Ecuador

Peru will take-on north-eastern neighbors Colombia in the South American B Championship Final on Saturday after Los Tumis were too strong for Ecuador this evening in Lima.  A 35-0 win saw over Ecuador saw Peru completing back-to-back wins in the South American B Championship to send the bottom seeded Ecuador into a basement clash against Venezuela.

With both Peru and Colombia having won their two opening fixtures Saturday’s final will officially confirm the Sudamérica Rugby rankings as one side will finish with three wins, one with two, one with one and the fourth side winless.

Peru and Venezuela have far longer histories than Colombia but the highly impressive growth within the country has seen Los Tucanes emerging as a genuine country that could rise to the levels of Brazil and Paraguay in the coming years.

Ecuador has emerged more recently than Colombia and is also showing great strides but remains behind both Peru and Venezuela. Continued exposure to the Sudamérica B and improvements in the game within the country are certain to see Ecuador developing further in the future.
