Brazil confirms venues for Tests vs Germany

Brazil will host Germany in Blumenau and São Paulo on November 28 and December 04 in a two match test series the CBRu has confirmed. The groundbreaking tour was announced in September and now Brazil’s governing body has officially announced where and when the matches will be played.

Working together with World Rugby the CBRu is to host a European opponent in an effort to promote the game and attract thousands of new fans to the sport. The two matches are to be played in Blumenau, Santa Catarina state and the state capital of São Paulo.

Germany enters the test series ranked 30th in the world, some nine places higher than Brazil. Both teams are under pressure in their respective continents to avoid relegation to lower divisions.

The famous Estádio do Pacaembu in São Paulo is to host rugby for the first time. The stadium hosted matched during the 1950 FIFA World Cup and will play host to the second of two rugby tests against Germany next month.

The first match will be played at Sesi Blumenau and will feature the Try Rugby project. Both test matches are to be broadcast on Brazilian television by SporTV.

Entrance to both matches will be free to the public. In order to attend the match spectators are required to make a donation which the CBRu will use to help charities.
