The Tobago International Rugby 7s Tournament 2015

This year’s edition of the Tobago International Rugby 7s Tournament will take place over the first weekend (5th & 6th) of December. Details of the cost to participate and various accommodation options available can be accessed by clicking here as can an official Registration Form and information on how to get to Tobago.

Upon arrival, each team will be met at the airport or seaport with a case of cold beer and transferred to their chosen accommodation venue. A shuttle service is provided free-of-charge for all participants and their supporters between the car park at Crown Point Hotel and the tournament venue on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December.

Quite apart from the on-field action, the carol singing, goat racing and the various parties kept everyone very busy over the long weekend. There is little that can beat enjoying a refreshingly cold beer whilst basking in the sea at Store Bay after each day’s play, watching the sun fade ever-so-slowly below the horizon! Perfect preparation for the evening and night time “liming” that follows.

In addition to the above, there are huge trophies and US$5,000 in cash for the winners of the Men’s Division and US$10,000 in cash plus trophies and other special prizes for the winners of the Women’s Division. Several internationally-renowned referees from Canada, U.K and USA will be here to help their regional counterparts to ensure that the best teams win!

The organizers stress that participants will be accepted on a first-pay basis, so with only 12 teams in the Men’s Division and 16 in the Women’s Division, interested clubs are advised to make their deposits as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Team managers are encouraged to have their teams to Tobago in time for the Carol Singing Session and the Teams Welcome Party (which takes place during the evening of Thursday 3rd) if that is not possible, certainly prior to the start of the Annual Rugby Goat Racing Festival (1:00pm Friday 4th). They should also make their departure plans with the all-day Beach Party in mind. It takes place the day after the tournament (Monday 7th December) at Store Bay from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. – the food, beer and music are all free, free, free to participating teams and their supporters.
