Bermuda host Harlequins in Atlantic Rugby Cup

This Saturday, Bermuda plays host to the Atlantic Rugby Cup, an annual event that brings some of the World’s best rugby players and teams to the small island located in the Atlantic Ocean. This year’s Atlantic Rugby Cup brings English Premiership side Harlequins to the island for a week long series of outreach events to help support the growth of rugby in Bermuda.

The Harlequins are going to be in Bermuda from June 1-7th with their visit culminating in a match against the Bermuda Barbarians, which is an International Select XV featuring players from all over the World.

The week long event includes outreach programs at schools, coaching forums, a 7s tournament, receptions, and charity events that go to support Beyond Rugby and Bermuda Youth Rugby. Beyond Rugby Bermuda is a partnership between The Family Center and Bermuda Rugby Football Union to work with kids at two schools in Bermuda using core values of rugby to help develop Bermuda’s youth.

Founded in 2013, last year’s Atlantic Rugby Cup featured English Premiership side Saracens in the marquee event.

The match day events, hosted at the National Sports Centre, include a youth match, the main event with the Bermuda Barbarians taking on Harlequins, and then a Women’s exhibition match.
