Las Guarias named for Olympic qualification

Costa Rican women’s head coach Oscar Bogantes has named his Guarias squad to compete in this weekend’s Olympic qualification tournament in Santa Fé. The Argentine city will play host to men’s and women’s qualifiers from Friday June 5 – Sunday June 7 with Costa Rica competing in the women’s section of qualification.

The team is coming off recent preparation in the Rainforest Rugby Sevens tournament, an event which finalized the make-up of the Costa Rican squad. Known as ‘Las Guarias’ the Costa Rican women take their name from a species of orchied found in the country.
